  POSITIVE SIGNS OF SANITY

Dear Fans and Soon to be Fans:

I thought that after a previous column called "Self-Diagnosis" vhich outlined some of za more obscure signs of lunacy, it might be nice to take a positive view unt outline some of za lesser known signs of actual sanity. There aren't many.

Ongoing happiness is felt by some to mean sanity, but you might just be in love (a form of madness-complicated see?) If you are not in love, but are quite Happy, then you might be heavily involved in Religion.

Believers are known to be quite happy, even when they believe in some perfectly idiotic schools of thought - I will not outline zhem for reasons of personal safety - use your imagination.

If you are not in Religion but are quite happy, you may have strayed into a multi-level marketing scheme. Some perfectly unhappy and even mad persons have found a kind of fiscal salvation in indulging in za practice of selling odd items of questional value in order to achieve their wayward and elusive dreams. If you are happy and not in love, not in Religion, not in sales, you might have reason to suspect zhat you are not insane. Zis vould make you a vonderful and enlightened and special person, one who I vill never meet because I only deal vith ze sicko's and depressed, and deluded, and paranoid, and grandious and obtuse.

Pet owners can also be quite happy, but I think I vill deal vith pet owners in a future column. Similarly I vill have to devote an entire column to Golf, a game for which ze Scottish should be forever condemned to infamy. Curse zem vith zheir haggis and kilts and bagpipes and zhat damned game. I could cheerfully recommend genocide for zhem if it vas not for zheir whisky. Another column.

To get back to signs of sanity for a sentence or two: If everyone zeems to love you for some reason or another, it is easier to be sane. You must be doing life right in some way for zhis kind of endorsement. On ze other hand, not being adored doesn't imply madness, only a more difficult to maintain sanity.

Vell zhere you are, more free information about brain coping. If your brain or your life iz not coping, take a train, and your husband/wife, I'm hoping, to Dr.Dag, vhere a carrot and a stick will do ze trick, and bump you into vhere you veren't before, you came in ze door.

Your reluctant hero,
Dr. Dag
